Background to Doing Good Leeds

The idea for this website was part of Leeds’ bid to the Transforming Local Infrastucture (TLI) fund in 2012.

The Office for Civil Society (OCS) made up to £30 million short-term funding available to provide better support for front line civil society organisations by transforming local infrastructure services.

Leeds was sucessful in its bid to the TLI funding, managed by Big Lottery, for supporting partnerships of local infrastructure organisations to rationalise and transform the support services which they provide to frontline civil society organisations.

In Leeds the delivery of the 18-month programme of work was managed by Transform Leeds that led an ambitious and diverse programme, of which the Doing Good Leeds website is just one of the outcomes.

The objectives for website, set out in the brief, were:

  • To give third sector organisations a central point of access to the support and development services available and to signpost to specific support
  • To create an online space which is a dynamic hub of third sector conversation and opinion
  • To raise the profile of the Third Sector in Leeds
