A short greeting to tell you all who I am and what I am doing at VAL.
Hello and thank you to everyone who is taking their time to read my first post.
My name is Taiwo and I have just started an exciting internship with VAL. I am currently working on a report about the Third Sector, so basically I'll be doing a lot of number crunching and analysis for the next three months, but it is all an experience I look forward to having.
I'm an international relations student at the University of Leeds, and it feels like a breath of fresh air to be able to do research on something more domestic for once. I often do hours of reading (which is rather boring to varying extents) on international NGOs and charities. Being from Leeds, I'm rather relieved to be able to be working at VAL, focusing on the people and the area around me.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing football with my university's ACS team and watching the World Cup. Other than that, I am an aspiring performance poet and I spend a great deal of time writing sad poems about break-up because that's what gets the blood boiling!
Due to the nature of my work with VAL, I hope to reach out to many of you and learn from you about the Third Sector in Leeds in the coming weeks. Please prepare and look forward to my cold-calling and persistent emails, and also I'll be sending out a short survey (I say short with some optimism!) for you all to fill in. I'd greatly appreciate any and all responses.
Thank you for reading and I look forward to working within the sector and with the people responsible for making Leeds such an exciting city to live, study and work.
