Stand up and be counted

There is a lot of debate at the moment around charities and campaigning, The Governance Academy brings some recent thoughts to your attention

Charities must not and can not stand up for the left or the right of political thought and charities must not and can not give support to a political party.
However, charities stand up for their beneficiaries and for the charitable purposes they deliver. Stuart Etherington summed this up well in  a recent article: " Let's not limit charities to just picking up the pieces, lets all champion and support their campaigning role  so that they can make a bigger difference."
