The Governance Academy urgently brings to your attention the latest Charity Commission device in respect of overdue returns.
Here we are again blogging about the consequences of late returns to the Charity Commission.
The latest thing from the Commission is that anybody can now check the Charity Commission register under advanced search, select charities with latest documents overdue and then filter by local authority area.
So, we can tell you that there are 99 registered charities in Leeds currently in this hapless public position.
The Charity Commission then goes on to say: " if you encounter a charity that is not up to date with its reporting, challenge the trustees and consider carefully before committing to give them financial assistance".
It gets worse for offending charities; the Commission is going to start providing public snapshots of offending charities in a given area. They have just started with Sefton - goodness knows which area will be next! It could be Leeds!

If your charity is one of the 99 in Leeds sort things ASAP. If you need help email ask the academy.
