The Giving Time Project at VAL has been invited to attend a conference organised by Justice Involving Volunteers in Europe
Gary Blake was invited to attend a conference in Bucharest on 25 February. He wrote about what he was looking to achieving before the conference.
I am very much looking forward to attending a conference in Bucharest this Thursday (25 February).
I am representing The Giving Time Project at VAL that is managed by Andrina Dawson.
Giving Time operates across West Yorkshire and supports Prisoners and ex-offenders into accessing volunteering as a way to change their lives for the better – by providing tailored one-to-one support, matching individuals with opportunities and supporting their personal and professional development throughout their volunteering.
I will be attending different workshops at the conference including:
Developing a volunteer training programme and good practice
And Risks and boundaries.
There will be some interesting speakers at The Conference including:
“Becoming a volunteer has helped with my reintegration after leaving prison”(Ex-offender, Hungary)
Working with offenders: a perspective from Italy
Personalising volunteer training: a practical demonstration from Portugal
I have never sent a Tweet before but while I am in Bucharest I plan to send out regular tweets about some of the workshops I will be participating in and about some of the presentations I will be listening to.
I will also be doing a bit of sightseeing while I am there, very excited about visting a country I have never been to before. I don’t know much about Bucharest yet but I have been told that it has the second biggest building in the world, the biggest being The Pentagon in America.
