Velvet glove to iron fist

The Governance Academy warns trustees that the Charities (Protection and Social Investment) Act has become law.

What will this new law mean for trustees?
The act gives the Charity Commission more powers.

The Act will be considered in detail in the Governance Academy page , "What's new".

For the time being suffice it to say that the Charity Commission will now have the power to publicly issue warnings to a trustee or charity where the Commission thinks that " a breach of trust or duty or other misconduct or mismanagement " has taken place.

The Commission will also be able to disqualify someone it considers unfit for trusteeship.

The academy consideration of the act in detail will be available as soon as possible.
