One week until Local Charities Day

The Government has announced a “Local Charities Day” for next Friday, 16 December. Here at Doing Good Leeds we explore what this could mean for charities in Leeds.

In practice, the key initiative of Local Charities Day is the #GiveMe5 match fund campaign. During the 24 hours of 16 December, any £5 donation made to charities registered on the Localgiving fundraising platform will be placed into a draw. 1000 of these donations will then be randomly selected and will be doubled by an extra £5 of match funding.

At present, around 60 local charities in Leeds are registered on Localgiving – search for them here So, Local Charities Day is an opportunity to show your support for these causes by making £5 donations, knowing that there is a chance that these donations will be doubled.

There will be further highlighting of Local Charities Day on Doing Good Leeds and through Voluntary Action Leeds’ social media next Friday, 16 December.
