Would you set out on a journey to somewhere unknown without checking the route first?

business planning

A business plan is your route map – it shows you where you want to be and how you are going to get there; how to overcome any potential pitfalls on the way and how you will know when you have arrived at your destination.

Do you need to raise money to run your organisation? When applying for funding you will be asked to provide a business plan.

You’ve heard of the saying ‘Fail to Plan; Plan to Fail’? Statistics show that organisations and small businesses that have a business plans are more likely to succeed.

The key elements to include in a business plan are:

  • What you are doing
  • Why you are doing it
  • Who is involved
  • Who will pay you for your products/services
  • How the finances will work

The process need not be scary but you may want some support with developing your business plan, especially if you have never written one before.
