How can we work together to support communities post-Covid?

University of Leeds

The Covid-19 pandemic has disproportionately impacted the health, wellbeing and prosperity of our local communities.

We’re inviting third sector and civic colleagues to join University of Leeds colleagues at a workshop to explore the main challenges communities face post-Covid, discuss the existing examples of effective partnerships, and identify the ways in which we can work together to support communities in the future.

This event is hosted as part of the University of Leeds’ Positive Impact Partners program and will take place virtually on 29 April, from 2 to 3:30pm. You can register for free through Eventbrite here.

The workshop

This is a unique opportunity for University staff and external partners to come together to network, share and gain new insights, and identify collaborative opportunities.

Our virtual, workshop-style event will involve group discussions around the following themes:

  • Better collaborative working: In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have seen the third sector, Leeds City Council and the University working together in new ways. We will discuss examples of these effective partnerships to understand how we can continue to build stronger connections following the pandemic.
  • Addressing community needs and challenges post-Covid:  We will consider some of the greatest challenges our local communities will face in the wake of the pandemic such as educational inequality, loneliness and poor physical and mental health and how we can work together to address these.
  • Addressing social and economic divides: We will explore how effective collaboration can address the deep social and economic inequalities across our communities that have been further exacerbated by the pandemic.

Find a Potential Partner for a Project or Partnership Idea

Our workshop also provides the opportunity for participants to pitch any partnership or project ideas they may have and potentially find a partner. This includes finding a partner to provide one-to-one support in specific areas of expertise, or create new partnership projects, including research.

Colleagues will have five minutes to pitch their ideas or requirements to participants and potentially find a partner!

For more details and inspiration on the different partnerships we can support colleagues with, see the Positive Impact Partners webpage.
