Did you know that throughout the month of March every year, Irish History Month takes place?

Particular highlights this year include a concert from John Doyle, John McCusker and Michael McGoldrick on Sunday 4th March and Luke Daniels and Nancy Kerr on Saturday 10th March both in Otley Courthouse. Clannad’s Moya Brennan performs at the City Varieties on Monday 12th March. On Wednesday 21st of March there is a lecture on traditional Irish music from Professor David Cooper at Café Humanite, Ilkley and a welcome return for singer/songwriter J. Eoin on tour from Limerick who performs at Seven Arts in Chapel Allerton. An session of traditional Irish music takes place on the Kirkstall Flyboat at Canary Wharf early evening of Sunday 25th. Also mid-afternoon on Sunday 25th in collaboration with Headingley LitFest there a screening of the Film ‘Kings of the Kilburn High Road’ (2007) in Hyde Park Picture House.
Throughout the month a recreation of the legendary Leeds public house, The(Old) Roscoe -demolished in 1982 to make way for the Sheepscar interchange project -will be on display in the community corridor in Leeds City Museum.
In addition to this, a team of tutors from the Irish Arts Foundation will be working in a number of schools across Leeds to deliver workshops on Irish arts and culture.
The nineteenth Leeds St Patrick’s Day Parade will take place in Leeds City Centre on Sunday 11th March, leaving Millennium Square at 11am
