How does Universal Credit work, how will you or those you support be affected by it, and what can we do about it?
|When||Saturday 3 March at 1:00am|
New Burley Club, Burley Hill Drive, Leeds LS4 2SZ
This day is aimed at informing and empowering campaigners, councillors, union and other activists, service providers and users, tenants, claimants and anyone who needs to know how Universal Credit works and what we can do about it.
Come along and learn what it's all about, in practical and political terms. The day will include presentations, group and plenary discussion sessions and we'll provide informative literature to take away with you.
We will look at subject's such as Universal Credit and sanctions, Universal Credit, women and parents, Universal Credit and people with disabilities. We will also look at how Universal Credit impacts on people in waged work and linking up with Trade unions.
In addition, we'll have discussions about how service-providers, advice-workers, volunteers, campaigners and unions can work together to support each other in scaling up the amount of support and advocacy available to claimants across Leeds.
Leeds West Labour Party is hosting the event but its open to anyone who has an interest in learning more or campaigning about Universal Credit
We are looking out for more people with knowledge/experience of UC to help facilitate discussions. If you or your organisation can get involved in planning the event or facilitating on the day please get in touch.
