The main purpose of this role will be to lead groups of customers in cooking lessons at our Ministry of Food Leeds cookery school. You will be responsible for teaching and inspiring students of all levels in lessons on how to create Jamie Oliver inspired recipes and develop their cooking skills. Your key duties will be to set up, lead and then clear down each lesson, provide an excellent customer experience and to champion healthy living. You’ll be using your passion for great food to ensure everyone gets the most they can from each lesson.
Ideally, you will already have proven experience as a Chef, Cook or Food Technology Teacher with the ability to cook to a high standard. However, you’ll also need to have really great communication skills and a real passion for great food cooked simply. Although you don’t need to have taught cookery lessons before, you will ideally have experience of training others to do something in a fun and motivating way. You’ll need to be keen to learn the Jamie Oliver style of cooking and then pass it on to others and, on top of all this, you’ll also need to be aware of current issues surrounding food and have the ability to signpost customers to other organisations.
Deliver amazing cooking lessons by really knowing your subject, engaging your students and ensuring everything is really friendly, accessible and fun. Part of this will be keeping your lessons to time and ensuring they’re always covering the agreed material.
Act as a host for each of your lessons, ensuring that your students are comfortable.
Prepare thoroughly for each of your lessons, ensuring that the lesson station looks great and is stocked with all the things you and your students will need for the session. This will also involve making sure the quality of the ingredients you are using is excellent.
Help the Service Manager to monitor food standards, always aiming to achieve the highest levels of quality in your own lessons.
Attend the training sessions we’ll put on for you to keep yourself up to date about all the new lessons that are being launched so that you’re able to teach everyone with great confidence.
Ensure that all relevant health, hygiene, fire and safety regulations are understood and followed by all. This will include being responsible for monitoring food hygiene standards within the kitchen and following very robust cleaning schedules.
