This role is fixed term for 12 months

Touchstone has been commissioned by Leeds Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to work in partnership with NHS colleagues to deliver a weekly clinic for women who are victims of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). This is a pilot service which will aim to engage and support women who are not pregnant.

Clinics will provide support and basic treatments in relation to FGM, and onward referral to other health services as needed. They will deliver services to both recent and non-recent victims aged 18+.

Touchstone’s role in the partnership is to coproduce an inclusive service which will engage women from a broad range of ethnic backgrounds, and enable them to access and benefit from this new community based service.

We will provide mental health support and advocacy to women attending the clinic.

The ethos will be person-focused. Survivors’ needs will be put first.

As the Women’s Advocate you will be supporting clinical colleagues with the running of the FGM clinic, empowering and engaging people to access the service. You will be required to provide information and support to service users who wish to take up criminal justice action whilst collaborating with the mental health services to provide support and assess risk.
