Burmantofts Community Projects (BCP) is a small multi award winning Charity that was set up back in 1995 by two locals that provided advice for the Burmantofts community and surrounding areas. In 2014, BCP won a national Institute of Money Advisers (IMA) award for best Financial Capability Project and in 2017 won the Centre for Social Justice Award and in 2019 were shortlisted for the national IMA best Financial Capability Project. Since 1995, the Charity has significantly grown, although remains small with a Trustee Board overseeing the work of the organisation along with a staff team of only twelve that mainly work part time. We currently have a small volunteer team who we have trained to help us deliver our services and who contribute to the development of our services. We pride ourselves on delivering top quality money advice services and our award winning unique Money Buddy services to the wider communities in Leeds. Our vision is to continue to grow (recent funding for another debt adviser for Leeds has allowed us to do this) and provide more debt advice to Leeds as well as continuing to develop our unique , national award winning Money Buddy services. We also wish to provide opportunities for future stakeholders in the wider UK for them to join forces as members of the Money Buddy Network.

Who fund us   
Burmantofts Community Projects is funded by the Money Advice and Pension Service (MaPS), Leeds City Council and The Big Lottery Fund. We provide a free face to face money advice service, a volunteer led form filling service (Benefit Buddies) and a financial inclusion service (Money Buddies), focusing on financial capability and maximising income. Most people requiring our services are seen at appointments in the Money Advice Centre at drop in sessions or appointments across Leeds.
What we are looking for   
With this new exciting opportunity we are looking for a Director of Compliance and Advice Services to join our team that has similar values to our own. We will continue to pride ourselves in tackling poverty and improving well-being to our most vulnerable members by offering free, confidential, independent, impartial and holistic advice services. We endeavour to maintain a team of paid staff and volunteers who are well trained and who work in an environment which is safe and positive and encourages all members of the team to work effectively and develop their individual skills.   We are looking for someone with:  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience of managing regulatory services, team management, and performance management
  • Proven experience of supporting advice teams and working towards objectives set by funders
  • Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office Packages and case management systems
  • Knowledge of Advice Quality Standards and FCA requirements for Debt advice
  The main responsibilities of this post will be to manage advice services for the organisation and ensure they are compliant with Advice Quality Standards (AQS), Money Advice and Pensions Service (MaPS) funded contract, Debt Advice Peer Review (DAPA), Quality Standards and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Regulations You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills, leadership skills, excellent IT skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.
