Selby is one of 150 areas in England chosen to deliver Big Local – a community led, 10 year Big Lottery funded programme which helps residents create lasting change through an investment of at least £1 million.
Selby Big Local puts the residents and their community firmly in the driving seat enabling them to identify local needs, take action and make an impact. Selby Big Local is all about delivering in partnership, making the best of local knowledge, skills, ambition and enthusiasm to make Selby an even better place to live. We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and experienced individual to bring the benefits and impact of skilled community development work to the Selby Big Local area.
The Selby Big Local Partnership wants to enable as many residents as possible to get involved and bring their abilities and experience to the table so that they can be the catalysts and deliverers of the changes the community wants to see now and in the future.
The development of our new community space brings many opportunities to bring people together but outreach continues to be a vital part of activity as we reach the half-way point of Big Local. We want our Community Development Worker to support residents to identify issues that are important to them and their community, and to enable individual and collective action to address these.
Working in partnership is key and our worker needs to be confident engaging a range of local partners, organisations and agencies. There’s real energy building behind Selby Big Local and we would like to make it easy for all residents to have the opportunity to play a part through sharing ideas, volunteering or getting involved in the activities happening through Big Local and other groups in the community.
