To provide high quality and accessible advocacy to victims of hate crime and families and individuals affected by the Criminal Justice System.
The success of our Advocacy Service is underpinned by promoting partnership work with external agencies and the high regard and trust our members and staff have for each other.
The role will work to two objectives:
1)To advocate on behalf of victims of hate crime. The role is part of the local delivery of a ground breaking national partnership led by GATE Herts, Report Racism GRT, to report, record and address hate crime to Gypsy, Traveller and Roma communities. The role provides 1-2-1 support to a caseload of individuals affected by hate crime, using excellent case management skills (engagement, empathy and empowerment). It also involves strategic objectives to raise awareness – including training, reports and data gathering.
2)To pilot advocacy support to individuals and families affected by the Criminal Justice System including, 1-2-1 and group support to inmates at two West Yorkshire prisons and support to families with loved ones affected by the Criminal Justice system.
The role will be part of our small and dedicated Services Team who work holistically to challenge injustice, improve wellbeing and help people to help themselves. The role will involve effective recording and evaluation, working with partner agencies, delivering workshops and outreach.
