Main Purpose of the Job:

Community Led Local Development (CLLD) is a method of funding the delivery of employment and skills within South Leeds and this post is supported by European Social Fund (ESF). 

The project aims to connect workless families with employment support in the CLLD area. Our aim is to support people who face the most difficult challenges and barriers to work.The project will provide individuals with confidence building, taster sessions and volunteering opportunities so that they can prepare effectively for work. 

This Project will focus on a package of tailored support to address worklessness of unemployed disadvantaged individuals. The project will engage with the individual, identify and address barriers to work, using a range of specialist support/provision to move the participant into sustained work at the earliest opportunity.    

Working Relations:
Internal - The appointed person will work closely with other team members working on the same project and with the wider multi disciplinary Teams based at Hamara. S/he will report directly to the Operations Director.
External – The post holder will be expected work with and develop sustainable partnership with existing local provision and organisations that are active in offering support to unemployed individuals such as housing, Neighbourhood management, health, debt management, Job Centre Plus, Colleges, employers, DWP etc. These partnerships are expected to span the public, private, voluntary and community sectors and include commercial employment agencies.  

Main responsibilities   
  • To develop and maintain working partnerships with a range of statutory, private, public, commercial employment and voluntary agencies.
  • To liaise with partners to identify individuals and target groups and to establish appropriate referral mechanisms.
  • To undertake a range of outreach activities via community venues, home visits, and through other channels to recruit unemployed people to the project.
  • To identify and address the barriers and the needs of unemployed people and undertake initial engagement.
  • To develop individual action plans and interventions to support unemployed people into work placement opportunities and to meet sustainable employment targets.
  • To mentor and support individuals to encourage attendance on the programme.
  • To broker access to a range of other existing services and specialist provision e.g. literacy and numeracy, vocational and workplace skills training.
  • Assist Participants to explore employment options.
