About the role

We have an exciting new role that aims to improve how Leeds University Union communicates with key audiences including staff, students, the University of Leeds and the general public through the media and external partners.

In the role you will support the development and execution of external and internal communications activity; ensuring that all external and internal communications to key stakeholders are effectively communicated, with consistent messaging, in support of our purpose.

You will play an active role in supporting the Director of Digital & Communications to design and develop the communications team. This includes designing and executing a communications programme internally and externally with a focus on developing and managing content for the media, to colleagues and through our social media channels.

About you

With experience in a communications role working across various channels, including media, digital, social, stakeholder and internal, you will have an interest in working for a charity that aims to ensure every student at the University of Leeds loves their time at university.

You’ll need:
  • Experience in a PR or communications role, working with a diverse range of audiences
  • Experience of crisis communications
  • Experience raising an organisation’s profile through stakeholder and media engagement
  • An understanding of brand and the ability to create strategy-led communication programmes
  • An understanding of digital marketing channels
  • Significant copywriting experience including PR, editorial and design underpinned by theoretical or practical knowledge or experience
