Hamara is looking to appoint additional new trustees to join our existing Board. As a trustee, you will be part of a team and take a leadership role supporting us in the next stage of our growth and development. You will have an interest in working with BME communities and promoting social inclusion.
We value the benefits that a diverse Board bring to the organisation and are wanting to recruit a broad range of skills, expertise and backgrounds. We want to welcome more women, young adults and people with disabilities, who are currently under represented on the Board. We are looking to attract applicants with skills in the legal and practical aspects of construction and building projects; fundraising, mental health, human resource and media.
Operating in Beeston and working primarily (but not exclusively) with the South Asian community, we are delivery partners working with Leeds City Council, the CCGs, GP practices, and other stakeholders. We deliver a range of projects and initiatives to address identified needs in the community. This includes advice and guidance, day services, supplementary schools, training and education, employment and enterprise, youth activities, sports, health and exercise. Working to an exciting new strategic plan, which includes an asset based community development approach, we have acquired a building, the Cockburn Centre. We are currently raising funds for its redevelopment and refurbishment. The centre will provide improved facilities for our service users with learning disabilities.
The positions are voluntary and unpaid but travelling expenses incurred are reimbursed. The Board meets a minimum of 6 evenings a year.
