The Ideas that Change Lives (ITCL) programme offers business support and financial investment to support and encourage organisations and individuals to develop socially enterprising ideas.
The initiative is part of Leeds City Council Adult Social Care’s “Better Lives” programme that encourages the development of services to help people to live independently. The other key strand is the leedsdirectory.org, which lists over 1,200 organisations and services including quality assured domestic services such as cleaning, gardening and personal care. This also includes leisure, lifestyle, health and other information services which support independence.
What is Ideas that Change Lives?
The ITCL programme aims to help people living in Leeds who have care and support needs to remain independent and improve their health and well-being. This may include groups of people such as:
- Older people
- People with a learning disability
- People with a physical disability or sensory impairment
- People with a mental health need
The programme is looking to support ideas which will make a real difference to the people above, and have potential for developing as a social enterprise – primarily through charging customers for services.
