Angel of Youths is presenting another new show, this time at Leeds Art Gallery on Saturday 23 August 2014
The new show, 'My Queer Culture' promotes a positive stance against discrimination and violence towards African Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersexual, and Queer people. This includes promoting self-affirmation, dignity, equal rights, increasing visibility as a social group, building community, celebrating sexual diversity and gender variance.
Diversity in practice is on offer, focusing on the experience of African communities in Leeds and finding out how young people are dealing with their sexuality.
At this event, 'My Queer Culture' will showcase contributions from young adults aged 16-30, as well as from activists and organisations from across the North of England. Leeds is where we do things differently!
There is no charge for entrance, the event starts at 10am and closes at 4pm. Refreshments will be available from the Art Gallery cafe and people are free to attend at any time throughout as there is a rolling programme.
There will be poetry, music, discussion, an interactive art installation and the launch of the Queer Eye by the Gallery. Please contact us regrading timings and if you have late contributions.
They are grateful for the support from the Leeds City Council, Leeds Museums and Galleries, BHI, and Leeds No Border.
Come and inspire change in Leeds LGBTIQ culture to support the African Descent community and stamp out discrimination. Angel of Youth is on Facebook and Twitter, check out our recent postings!
