Free counselling service for parents and carers

Leeds Counselling is pleased to have been awarded the contract to provide counselling to parents and carers in Children’s Centres for a further 3 years until June 2017.

About the service

The purpose of this Leeds City Council commissioned service is to deliver an individual (one to one) counselling service within Children’s Centres to parents and carers of young children, thus enabling children to live in safe and supportive environments.

The service is available to anyone who lives or works in Leeds and who is responsible for a child under 5, or who is pregnant or whose partner is pregnant.

The service is free, confidential and professional. Parents/carers do not need to use/live near the Children’s Centre where the service is delivered - they can access counselling in the Centre that is most convenient for them.

Accessing the service

To access the service parents/carers can self refer or they can be referred by a professional by phoning their local counsellor. For information about the areas covered and the phone numbers of the counsellors visit the Leeds Counselling website or email Joe Hanney, Head of Services for Children and Families, on
