Phase 2 of Young Lives NEET Research begins

Young Lives Leeds is looking for Leeds based organisations that support young people (16-25) who are NEET to support this research.

Phase 1

Earlier on this year, Young Lives Leeds, Young Lives Bradford and Wakefield Young Lives completed a research project that engaged with 315 young people to share their experiences of Not being in Employment, Education or Training (NEET). Some of the headline figures from this research showed that:

  • 72% of young people said that given the right support they could contribute a lot more to society.
  • 36% of young people felt their lack of English, Numeracy and ICT skills was the biggest barrier preventing from finding employment or training.
  • 32% of young people said they lacked confidence.

Contribute to Phase 2

Phase 2 of this research will build on the findings of this research and look to gain greater depth by using focus groups and interviews. Using this approach will give the project both depth and breadth, with the interviews looking deeper into key points from the focus groups.

The research will develop a set of recommendations that aims to support work with young people who are NEET and the hardest to engage.

Young Lives Leeds is looking for Leeds based organisations that support young people (16-25) who are NEET to support the research by joining the research steering group and to deliver the focus groups and interviews.
