CEO named Senior Champion of the YearLeeds, 15 January 2015 – Touchstone ranked 19th in this year Stonewall Top 100 Employers - The Definitive Guide to the Best Places to Work for Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Staff. Touchstone is the only Yorkshire based employer listed in the Top 20 and one of only five charities that featured in the Top 100 nationally. Touchstone’s Chief Executive, Alison Lowe, has also been accorded 2015 Stonewall Senior Champion of the Year award. Alison is a vocal public advocate for equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. She is a serving Councillor and campaigned for equality in Leeds City Council. She is the Chair of the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Employer’s Committee and member of the West Yorkshire Police and Crime Panel. Alison has also mentored several organisations in Yorkshire including NHS Leadership Academy in Leeds to support their work around sexual equality. Alison Lowe is the driving force at Touchstone where she has actively introduced and promoted various equality and diversity initiatives since taking up the position of Chief Executive ten years ago. Alison said she is ‘so proud to have been named Stonewall's Senior Champion in the 2015 Workplace Equality Index.’ She added ‘the cherry on the cake is that we also improved our ranking by 72 places and are now placed 19th nationally.’ She commended all the staff and volunteers at Touchstone for their on-going commitment in making the organisation a safer and welcoming workplace for all, irrespective of sexual orientation. Touchstone is one of the leading charities that provide community mental health and wellbeing services across Leeds and parts of Yorkshire. Touchstone is part of the Mindful Employer movement, ranked 59 in the Sunday Times Best 100 Non for Profit Organisation 2014 and awarded Investor in People Gold in October 2014.
