Every year thousands of students choose to volunteer across Leeds and West Yorkshire as a way of giving back and getting to know their local community. As well as helping students develop a variety of skills, volunteering has a significant impact on the charities and communities it serves.
Chris Verney, who is the Volunteer Coordinator for Better Leeds Communities, works with many student volunteers across the year and would recommend it to other organisations “Having student volunteers on our teams is brilliant because they are often extremely skilled, passionate and enthusiastic, which bring a certain dynamism to our groups. We get volunteers from many different courses, meaning they can bring a wide variety of different perspectives and skills to our services.”
The Volunteering Hub acts as a brokerage service between the University Of Leeds and community groups, charities and other third sector organisations.
Students are able to search the online database for up to date volunteering roles across the city in a wide range of different sectors.
If your organisation has a role which would be suitable for student volunteers please contact a member of the team on 0113 343 7445 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
