A trio of Leeds companies have made the shortlist of Business in the Community’s Annual Responsible Business Awards for their outstanding contributions to local communities.
ITV, Asda and Zenith impressed judges by tackling wide-ranging issues from rural action, inspiring young talent, school partnerships and sustainable products and services.
The accolades are the UK’s longest running and most robust responsible business awards programme celebrating companies who take action to address social and environmental issues and transform their communities.
The shortlist coincides with Responsible Business Week (20-26 April) which boosts awareness of the positive contribution that companies make to society.
Liz Needleman, Area Director England East of Business in the Community, said: “Announced within Responsible Business week, the shortlist acknowledges Leeds based firms who play an instrumental role in creating a fairer society and a more sustainable future. It’s never been more important for businesses to demonstrate the tremendous economic value, environmental and social impact they make across communities.”
Some companies shortlisted will be selected as finalists to present their programmes to senior business professionals with the most successful crowned overall winner in each category.
These businesses will be recognised at the Yorkshire Responsible Business Gala Dinner on 18 June at the Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford - an event which celebrates the wider impact of responsible business across the region.
The overall winners will then be announced in London at Business in the Community’s Responsible Business Annual Gala Dinner in partnership with 2014 Responsible Business of the Year, National Grid, on 7 July 2015.
