The Leeds Refugee Aid Donations and Sorting Centre Steering Group are a group of organisations including Voluntary Action Leeds, LASSN, City of Sanctuary, Yorkshire Aid and Refugee Start who have come together to provide a coordinated response to the large amount of donations that organisations across the city have received in response to the asylum seeker and refugee crisis. Since the centre in Richmond Hill was opened in November there has been a fantastic response so far with donations coming in via organisations in the city and the public.

The organisations involved in the Centre are looking for volunteers to help sort and package donated items such as clothes, toiletries and food at Richmond Hill Recreation Centre (Cross Aysgarth Mount, LS9 9AH) on set dates in the new year. The donations will then be transported out to refugees across Leeds and in transit across Europe.

The first volunteer induction day will take place on Saturday 9th January from midday to 4pm. If you are interested in volunteering just turn up at the Centre at midday. After the induction day there will be regular sorting afternoons every Saturday and Sunday from midday to 4pm. Any help is much appreciated and donations are also gratefully received!
