Small Leeds charities left money in a Will are being offered a free Inheritance checking service by Craig Solicitors in Oakwood to ensure that they receive the full amount due to them.Steven Whiting, Craig Solicitors Wills & Probate Specialist Consultant, who is a Full Professional Member of the Institute of Legacy Management, says that the grossing up rules that apply when the residue of an estate is to be shared between some beneficiaries that are exempt from paying Inheritance Tax (e.g. charities) and other non-exempt beneficiaries  (e.g. family members) are particularly complex and if the calculations aren't done correctly charities can often lose out. After we are provided with copies of the estate accounts and other estate documents we can often tell very quickly whether any underpayment has been made and we have therefore decided to offer this service for free to those Leeds based charities that don't have an in-house professional legacy officer. The charities can then decide whether they wish to pursue the matter with the executors themselves or to ask us to do it for them.Steven can be contacted on 0113 244 4081 or 07467 077 503 or by email at steven@craiglaw.co.uk.
