Renew Leeds Ltd and GIPSIL are pleased to announce that, after a period of discussion, we have reached agreement on a transfer of staff and services with effect from 1st April 2016.
Both parties are delighted at this successful outcome which means that key services for young people are maintained and that staff will be joining an organisation that is already established in the Leeds community and has a growing and exciting portfolio of services which includes:
- The delivery and development of learning, support and counselling services for young people and their families and carers delivered in partnership with schools and Children’s Services
- A more integrated housing support service for young people as part of the wider Flagship programme
- Provision of employability support in key sectors and action to increase the supply of job and training opportunities for local people by working with employers and strategic bodies
- Development of more social and affordable housing
We would like to thank all our partners for their support to achieve this outcome, the services and expertise will enable GIPSIL to sustain and extend its remit across the City and augment its innovative work with Third Sector Leeds and key organisations such as Leeds City Council and Leeds Community Foundation.
Renew has a proud history of delivering services to the most vulnerable in the Leeds community but the Trustees have recognised the need to respond to the austerity challenge and demonstrated the vision to work with GIPSIL to achieve this successful outcome.
Renew Leeds will now consider how its remaining activities and residual assets can best be used for the benefit of the Leeds Community. Andy Taylor, Chair of Renew Leeds, commented: “I am pleased that the Renew Trustees have supported the transfer of services to GIPSIL, a Leeds based organisation that will build on our values and achievements over the past years and sustain vitally important services for the City. I would like to thank all those who have helped us reach this point and wish our former staff and GIPSIL all success in the future”. Reverend Canon Kathryn Fitzsimmons, Chair of GIPSIL Leeds, added: ”GIPSIL acknowledges the vital work done by Renew in our city. We are looking forward to ensuring that quality services for young people in Leeds are maintained as staff and service users begin a new phase in the life of GIPSIL”.
