Changes to the Emergency Duty Team

This briefing has been prepared to update you about the changes to Leeds City Council’s Social Care Emergency Duty Team (EDT) that will come into effect early April 2016.

A review of the EDT service began in July 2015 as it was felt the current model was becoming increasingly unsustainable; a small team had become even smaller due to a number of staff retiring, and the service has proven difficult to recruit to due to the need for staff to have qualifications and experience in both adults and children’s social work.

Adult Social Care & Children's Services agreed that as part of the review they would consider options for continuing to provide the service in partnership and also for separate provision within each Directorate.

The aim of the review was to have the proposed arrangements in place by the beginning of April 2016.
