Third Sector Leeds (TSL) is seeking to appoint a dynamic independent chair to lead the new third sector Assembly for Leeds.
Leeds has a vibrant and thriving third sector, which is currently facing significant opportunities and challenges. TSL is the strategic forum for voluntary, community and faith organisations in the city.
The independent chair of TSL steers the work of the leadership group who, in turn, act on behalf of the wider TSL Assembly. The Chair will lead on engagement and ongoing work with strategic partners. In addition to leadership and strategic vision, the independent chair will provide scrutiny and challenge in all aspects of TSL‘s work.
TSL is managed by Voluntary Action Leeds who provide operational support and facilitation to TSL activities.
Reimbursement of Costs
Reimbursement of costs up to £3,000 per year is available to the successful applicant. This may be shared with the Deputy Chair dependant on how workload is agreed.
Applications are invited from anyone who meets the qualities within the Role Description from all backgrounds and including those who have primarily worked in other sectors. The time commitment is not fixed – but is envisaged to be approximately ½ day per week, there is a minimum expectation to attend/lead:
- Bi-monthly Third Sector Leadership Group meetings
- Bi-annual Assembly meetings
- TSL Goes Local events
- Associated planning and development and meetings as agreed with the Assembly.
You will also be required to meet, and build relationships with, key city leaders and partners and to be the Vice Chair on the Third Sector Partnership Group (which meets approx. 6 times a year).
The period of appointment is three years. Included within the role is support to the following chair towards the end of the third year, allowing for a period of handover.
