General Practice Strategy Workshop on Wednesday 15 June, 9.30-1pm
The CCG now has more responsibility around how GP services are commissioned. We are currently drafting a strategy to describe what this might look like. This could range from how you would like to make your appointment at your surgery to what kind of services your GPs could provide which would work best for you. We will set this in the context of the challenges general practice will be facing over the coming years, including recruiting enough doctors, nurses and other staff.
With the responsibility for commissioning primary care now being passed to clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) from 1 April 2016, Leeds South and East CCG is keen to engage with as wide an audience as possible to ensure input into our developing general practice strategy. The workshop will be your opportunity to influence the way general practice in the south and east of Leeds provides the best service possible. We need your views on how we develop the strategy taking into account some of the key themes that have emerged from previous engagement with patients, members of the public and health and social care professionals.
We aim to have an interesting and interactive morning where we can listen to your views. We will add these to the feedback we have had from others, including doctors and general practice staff. Together this should give us the information we need to develop our Strategy by the end of July.
We will give you a full agenda on the day. We’ll have warm drinks available from 9.30am, ready to start at 10.00am. Following a welcome and introduction by Philip Lewer, Chair of Leeds South and East CCG, Dr Alistair Walling will set the scene. It will then be over to you for a series of small facilitated table discussions. We very much hope that you will come with ideas to help shape the strategy, or come to learn more about general practice and share your views.
The event will be attended by patients, members of the public, local Councillors, the voluntary sector, and other health and social care representatives.
