Local organisation wins Weston Charity Award

Zest – Health for Life was announced as a winner of the Weston Charity Awards at the ceremony on Thursday 9th June.

Zest, who address the health inequalities and social isolation of people in East Leeds, are one of only 16 winners of this year’s Award. Along with an unrestricted grant of £6,200, Zest will receive 10-12 months coaching from senior business leaders via national organisation Pilotlight, who have been bringing top business talent together with small charities for over ten years to help charities become bigger, better or more sustainable.

The Weston Charity Award is an annual initiative between the Garfield Weston Foundation and Pilotlight which was launched in 2014 to address the challenge of increasing demand and reductions in funding.  From the initial 6 winners in the North East, the Awards have expanded to cover the North and Midlands of England.

Applications for funding from Garfield Weston are open to all organisations in Leeds year round, while those wanting to access Pilotlight’s free support are invited to apply between 1st and 31st July at www.pilotlight.org.uk/charities/how-to-apply
