Leeds Federated held a small ceremony to celebrate the completion of four affordable family homes at Coniston Gardens, Halton Moor. Some of the people and organisations involved in the development met with the new tenants for a tour of the homes. The properties were built on land which had been vacant since old bedsits were demolished several years ago. The spacious homes are energy efficient, designed to a larger footprint than many typical new build houses and include good-sized gardens. The three two-bedroom and one three-bedroom properties are for affordable rent which is around 80% of the market value. The homes are part of Leeds Federated’s Affordable Homes Programme 2015–18 which is partly funded by Social Housing Grant from the Homes and Communities Agency. Leeds Federated also works closely with Leeds City Council on new developments. Leeds Federated’s Head of Assets and Development, Stephen Ellis said: “It was fantastic to meet the tenants and hear about the difference the new homes at Coniston Gardens are already making to their lives.“ “Leeds Federated is expanding its development programme to help meet the need for more affordable housing across Leeds and the wider Leeds City Region. We are committed to developing more high quality and affordable homes.” The properties at Coniston Gardens were built by Torpoint Construction Ltd for Leeds Federated and designed by Acanthus WSM Architects.
