12 September - 16 September is Baby Week. Details of how to get involved.
We would like to let you know about Leeds Baby Week and how you and your organisation can get involved. 'Baby Week' is an early years initiative adapted from the Brazilian Semana do Bebe (UNICEF). It is designed to increase understanding in families and practitioners about the critical growth stages in a baby's life, improve engagement with services and celebrate the local Third Sector (voluntary, community & faith) and statutory sector. Leeds is the first city in an English speaking country to replicate the model. The week will be a platform to promote our Best Start and Maternity Strategies.
Venues have been booked and a 'draft programme/timetable' developed. Plans are in place for an opening conference on Monday 12th September 2016 at Leeds Beckett University with a number of interesting speakers from different areas of children and family services. There will be space for stalls for organisations to exhibit their work next to the lecture theatre on the Monday or Friday. Throughout the week there will be a variety of activities taking place at locations such as children centres in the city. On Tuesday, Robin Balbernie will be giving a lecture on the '1001 Critical Days'. The closing ceremony is planned to take place in the Civic Hall on Friday 16th September.
You are invited to be part of the week by attending the conference, booking a stall to promote your work or offering to speak at the opening event.
