Together Women Project (TWP) are delighted to announce we have received funding from the Big Lottery, Reaching Communities Fund.
This funding has been awarded to TWP to develop gender specific early interventions that will support women in addressing the multiple and complex needs that often lead to anti-social behaviour and crime throughout the cities of Leeds, Bradford and Sheffield over the next 3 years.
Whilst there is recognition by the Government of the need for gender specific approaches for women already entrenched in the Criminal Justice System, there is a further need to provide interventions and alternatives for women at risk of offending and those on the brink of the Criminal Justice System.
This project will aim to tackle this need, enabling TWP to work directly in local communities to support women and their families in addressing issues around debt, accommodation, unemployment and social exclusion. This project will also build upon the work TWP delivers alongside the police by providing support to women upon arrest and delivering pre-court disposals which will divert women from the Criminal Justice System and give women the opportunity to resolve the issues which triggered their offence.
