St Giles Trust - Yorkshire 3 peaks Challenge

On the 13 April 2017, we are going to take on the rough terrain of Yorkshire’s Three Peaks: Climbing up over 5000 feet totalling 24 miles in less than 12 hours.

As a team, St Giles Trust Yorkshire are passionate about helping our clients any way we can. Every year, the St Giles Trust Team takes part in a fundraising event. Last year, we cycled 1200 miles on exercise bikes (greater than Leeds to London) and the year before we walked Mt Ben Nevis.

All funds raised go towards the families and people that need it most. The money ensures that a parent can put dinner on the table in the evening; it provides a bed for someone who was homeless; the money provides clothes to keep themselves warm and interview clothes for when someone is ready to take the next step to independence.

The reason we do this was that, as a charity that works with families, we noticed that there is a limited supply of funding for those in need. Once the community care grant was abolished and was replaced with Local welfare support scheme, it made seeking financial support even harder as the local welfare support can only be accessed at most a few times.

The majority of families have had to use this resource for food parcels and utility top ups, when no food banks have been available. We hope again this year to raise desperately needed funds for the people and families we work with.
