2 ways to show Leeds landscapes some love in May

This month, on the weekend of 19th-21st May, The Body Shop is bringing community members together to help transformational projects across Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow.

Every day, people take steps to enrich their communities: Support workers helping young people to gain employability skills; conservation volunteers working rain and shine for the benefit of local wildlife; and thousands of others dedicated to making our world a more beautiful and diverse place.
You can join them on the weekend of the 19th-21st May! Sign up for one of the events in Leeds. It's simple and easy to secure your space; just go to the links below and click 'Volunteer for this event'.

Leeds Towpath Taskforce: The Canal & River Trust's Towpath Taskforce is encouraging local people to play an active role in protecting and improving their local waterway environment. Activities may involve painting locks to brighten and conserve them, clearing vegetation to improve access, litter picking to protect wildlife and removing graffiti. A wonderful way to spend time getting to know your local canal, learn practical skills and get some fresh air.

Hyde Park Source: On the 21st May, Hyde Park Source need help transforming an unused room at Hyde Park Source into a motivational volunteer hub by constructing furniture, putting up notice-boards and pictures and painting. In the nearby Rosebank Park, volunteers will also help implement changes that the local community have asked for: planting community fruit trees, mounting mosaics, thinning trees to improve the view and increasing access by improving the footpaths. No experience needed - just plenty of enthusiasm!
Projects like these and the inspiring teams behind them are what makes Leeds such a wonderful place to live or study. Take a look at all the events taking place during the 19th-21st May weekend.
