Winter Friends saving the day!

Promote public health messages, deliver high impact interventions and signpost people to the right services. Lets tackle social isolation, (fuel) poverty and the flu epidemic together!!

The aim is to equip professionals and organisations with resources and knowledge to target vulnerable people and promote the risks of cold weather. It’s vitally important that we tackle cold related illness and reduce excess winter deaths as unfortunately this remains a huge concern for Leeds. Ensuring that vulnerable people in the community have the knowledge and access to services they need over Winter can dramatically reduce the number of falls and hospital admissions whilst tackling the citywide issue of social isolation which is becoming increasingly prevalent in all communities. All you have to do is complete the training (online or 30 minute workshop) and you will have instant access to our resource packs which contain plenty of promotional literature for our winter friends to disperse. Winter Friends are raising awareness of the effects of cold weather whilst promoting a meaningful conversation with someone who could be at risk. Email agefriendly@leeds.gov.uk to register your interest in becoming a Winter Friend today!!
