HARIBO supports The Leeds Fund following Prince Harry visit

HARIBO has donated £20,000 to Leeds Community Foundation’s Leeds Fund to support the charity’s initiative The Leeds Fund and the next round of #GiveLoveLeeds grants.

HARIBO has donated £20,000 to Leeds Community Foundation’s (LCF) Leeds Fund to support the charity’s initiative The Leeds Fund and the next round of #GiveLoveLeeds grants.

The donation is inspired by HRH Prince Henry of Wales’ summer visit to Yorkshire, where he spoke at LCF’s Leeds Leads: Encouraging Happy Young Minds event before visiting HARIBO’s Castleford based facility, and reinforces the brand’s commitment to promoting and supporting emotional well-being and good mental health.

Herwig Vennekens, Managing Director at HARIBO, said: “HARIBO is proud to support its local communities. We have been involved in a range of charitable activities for many years and are pleased to be able to provide LCF with the funds needed to continue their work in this crucial area.”

LCF’s Leeds Fund, which launched in 2016, accepts contributions from individuals and companies wanting to support the city in which they live and/or work. The Leeds Fund is responsive to a variety of needs across the city and distributes #GiveLoveLeeds grants of up to £2,500, as well as Micro Grants of up to £500 to support new and emerging community activity across Leeds.

Mr. Vennekens continued: We’re looking forward to our contribution making a real difference, and helping to support LCF’s efforts in recognising smaller charities and the wider needs of the city.”

Leeds Community Foundation’s (LCF), hosted the event which addressed the mental wellbeing of the city’s young people and brought together various mental health projects, charities and beneficiaries of The Leeds Fund. The next round of #GiveLoveLeeds grants will keep the events focus and be centered on helping mental health charities which support young people in the city.

Kate Hainsworth, CEO of Leeds Community Foundation, said: “We are extremely pleased that HARIBO has decided to support the fourth round of #GiveLoveLeeds Grants which will help projects that encourage happy young minds across Leeds. We are particularly grateful to both Prince Harry and HARIBO for championing mental health and supporting The Leeds Fund. Thanks to HARIBO we can continue to support charities across the city that make a difference every day.

“Round four of the #GiveLoveLeeds grants will support encouraging happy young minds as mental health concerns increase across the country and here in the city of Leeds. Good mental health is fundamental to our physical health and wellbeing and to the way we all live our lives. It is important in our relationships, in our work and in helping us to achieve our potential. We are currently calling for applicants for this round of grants and welcome all applications.”

LCF are looking for projects that seek to improve young people’s mental health and/or give them the tools to keep their young minds healthy. For this fund, the term ‘young people’ applies to people between the ages of 16 to 25 year olds.
