Need an extra pair of hands?

Could you benefit from a student working with you helping create case studies or newsletters, or possibly offering some additional support with PR and raising your profile?

Leeds Trinity University runs six-week professional placements where students work full time, unpaid, either on a specific project or as general support to the work of an organisation as part of their degree. Placements are an embedded and accredited part of every degree and help students gain degree relevant experience to secure graduate employment. 62% of our students continue to work or volunteer with their placement provider and so it is a great way to try out a potential candidate for a role.   Perfect for projects, events, marketing and much more! Projects could include... Projects work really well for placements as they give students something to get their teeth into and give them the opportunity to show how they can work independently. Work could include research,  running satisfaction surveys (and feeding back results!), social media campaigns, marketing, events, fundraising, reports, assisting with workshops, one to one support, befriending or offering general additional help. Students are on a range of undergraduate degrees including Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, Humanities, Working with Children & Young People, Journalism, Media Film & Culture, Nutrition & Food, and Marketing and would welcome the opportunity to work with you and your organisations within the Voluntary Sector in Leeds. What you need to do? Leeds Trinity University would just ask that you plan some work for the student to do, supervise the student as you would any staff, build in some skills progression where possible and take part in a brief online assessment at the end of the placement. Doesn’t matter if you don’t have a permanently free desk! Students can be flexible and work some of the time with you, at other sites, from home or university, and meet with you regularly for progress updates. Our next placement period for this academic year is
  • 16 April – 25 May 2018 (second year students)
  • and 28 May – 29 June 2018 (first year students),
but we’re already starting conversations with our students about the type of placement opportunity they’re looking for next year, and it’d be great to have you on board.  If you’re interested and want to know more please do give me a call on 0113 283 7266 or email at m.ahmed@leedstrinity.ac.uk .
