The Charity Tax Commission is running a 16-week consultation to gather evidence from charities, finance and taxation experts and the public, of their experience and views of the current systemLast year, an independent Charity Tax Commission was established to review the impact of the tax system on charities. The aim of the commission is to ensure that the tax system and the reliefs it offers are still operating in a way that generates the maximum public benefit. Through examining the principles that underpin charitable tax relief, analysing the current system and developing recommendations for reform, the commission will develop a long-term strategic approach to fiscal policy for the voluntary sector.
