LCH are ambitious to create many more affordable homes over the next ten years - so they have recently begun exploring an opportunity to build some homes in ArmleyYou'll remember that 18 months ago Leeds Community Homes (LCH) launched a community share offer, which raised £360,000 towards their first sixteen "People Powered Homes" in the centre of Leeds. Building work is well underway on that site, with 16 homes being built over the next couple of years. LCH are ambitious to create many more affordable homes over the next ten years - so they have recently begun exploring an opportunity to build some homes in Armley - LCF would love to get local people involved. It's a site on Mistress Lane that various people have looked at over the years for building homes, but no-one's made it work as yet. The Council approached LCF a few months ago to see if they would be interested. LCF think there's potential, but for their approach to work, they need local people involved - so they need to hear what local people think of the idea of building homes there, and what kind of homes they think are most needed. Over the next few months LCF will need to find a small group of local people who are interested in working with them to see if they can make their "People Powered" approach work in Armley. LCF are not doing any big consultation events just yet - it's not the right time and they don't have the resources to do that just yet. First they would like to chat with people. That might be a cuppa in someone's front room, a chat on the street, or a conversation with a local community group. LCF have a few ideas, and know a few people locally. They've also been in touch with local councillors and the local MP. But would like to chat with lots more people over the next couple of months, to see if this idea (it's no more than that at the moment) has potential. So if you would like to find out more, please get in touch. You might have thoughts yourself - or you may know of other people and organisations they can talk with.
