How to make referrals for befriending for new migrants

Do you work with people who are new arrivals and moved to Leeds from other countries? Touchstone’s MAP+ (Migrant Access Project Plus) has volunteer befrienders called Buddies who can support them.

Moving to a new place is tough - how to you find out how things work, what services and support are available or where to access it?

Finding the practical information and working out where to go can be really confusing and stressful. It can also be an experience that leaves you socially isolated.

MAP+ has been training volunteers to be Buddies, to support individuals and families facing these challenges.

Buddies can support with practical help like finding the local bus route, registering with a dentist or GP or finding affordable places to shop. They can also do fun and social activities together such as visiting the museum or park, or just having a chat over a cuppa.

MAP+ is taking referrals for the scheme - please find further information below: If you have any questions please get in touch with MAP+ on 0113 248 4880 or mapp@touchstonesupport.org.uk
