Adults in Leeds encouraged to attend free NHS Health Check

If you're aged between 40 and 74, you may be eligible for a free NHS Health Check.

Individuals aged between 40 and 74 without pre-existing cardiovascular conditions are invited for a free NHS Health Check every five years.

The NHS Health Check can help lower the risk of developing heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, type 2 diabetes and some types of dementia.

As a result of the NHS Health Check in this year alone, 1379 people have been diagnosed with Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) and are now being managed via the appropriate pathway. 416 people have been found to be at high risk of developing cardiovascular disease and a further 1231 were at high risk of developing diabetes. These people will now be reviewed on an annual basis and supported to make lifestyle changes to help reduce their risk.

The NHS Health Check is an important step for many people towards improving their health and leading healthier lifestyles, so make sure you attend yours!
