LCC and Voluntary Action Leeds have agreed to support researchers at Leeds Beckett University who are undertaking a study to explore the scale of Social Enterprise Activity (SEA) across the Region.
The research is Instigated by West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) and aims to:
· Establish the scale and scope of the activity/sector
· Examine the challenges that organisations undertaking SEA face
· Identify gaps in the infrastructure supporting organisations delivering SEA
· Formulate some practical policy options to support the development of the sector
For the study we would like to receive input from a wide range of organisations, including both those which classify themselves as Social Enterprises, and those that have a wider remit but undertake Social Enterprise Activities as part of their operation (SEA is defined as trading / selling goods or services which also fulfil a social mission).
To take part in the research you will need to complete this online survey. The survey should take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary and any information given will remain totally confidential and will only be used by researchers and stakeholders involved in the project.
The findings from the research will be published in a report; however, the data from the survey will be presented in aggregate form only, so neither you nor your organisation will be identifiable from the results.

If you feel you are not the most appropriate person to respond on behalf of your organisation, please forward this email to a colleague (however we only need one response from each organisation.) If you would prefer to complete a paper copy of the questionnaire or would prefer to respond over the telephone then please contact the Survey Centre on the number below.
Please note the final submission date is Wednesday, 31st July 2019.
The project is funded by Higher Education Innovation Funding and is a partnership between Leeds Beckett University and WYCA. Advice and oversight is provided by the School for Social Entrepreneurs Yorkshire and the North East, Social Enterprise Yorkshire and Humber (SEYH), and Voluntary Action Leeds.
The research has been reviewed and approved under LBU’s research ethics process. If you have any questions about the study please contact Penny Wymer on 0113 812 1960 or email@example.com
If you have any technical issues, or queries about how to complete the questionnaire, please contact the Survey Research Centre on (0113) 812 1960 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
