Sport England gave an informative presentation at Leeds Funding Fair held at the Prince Philip Centre in Chapeltown on 24/10/19 encouraging communities to apply for funding "Towards an Active Nation"Howard Thompson and Rob Hartley, Investment Managers at Sport England, delivered a workshop at VAL's recent Funding Fair, encouraging community groups to access Sport England funds to help Sport England meet their vision of everyone "regardless of age, background or level of ability to feel able to engage in sport and physical activity".
Both were impressed by the turnout at the Leeds Funding Fair and Howard commented that "the big positive for us was the amount of varied organisations that attended and those groups which we are really looking to reach with our funding. We are looking at reaching new organisations that don’t necessarily use sport for sports sake, but are looking at achieving wider community outcomes".
Slides from the presentation includes details about: Sport England Small Grants for sports activities; Community Assets fund to improve/create community spaces and Great Ideas fund (to apply for great ideas fund there is no formal application form, just answer 4 short questions on Sport England website if you have an idea for a project around sport and: physical well-being; mental well-being; individual development; social/economic and community development, and they will get in touch within a few days to discuss your idea.
