Grants up to £15,000 for registered charities reaching older people most likely to be missing out – now and beyond the coronavirus pandemic.
Coronavirus has changed the lives of everyone in the UK, but this is particularly true for our older generation who remain amongst the most affected.
Before coronavirus struck the nation, Independent Age was exploring how to strengthen collaboration with older people and local organisations with the aim of shaping a more active role in supporting communities. But right now, our focus must be directed towards the current crisis.
We can’t do this alone which is why our trustees have released £2 million from Independent Age’s funds to help smaller organisations across the UK working with older people hardest hit by the virus. The fund will support two groups of older people: firstly older people living in particularly complex and challenging situations and secondly: older people in danger of being out of site and out of mind.
There will be 4 separate funding rounds. In each round there will be £500,000 available and organisations can apply for up to £15,000.
Round deadlines will be: 9am on 4 June, 2 July, 21 August and 18 September.
Decisions for each round will be within a couple of weeks. But please be aware you can only apply once. If you have been unsuccessful, you will not be able to re-apply in a later funding round.
To be eligible your registered charity must have an annual income under £1 million, have 1 worker (part-time is fine), you must be working with older people in one or both of the priority areas and know what you want to do to make a difference to their lives over the next 6 months. You don't need to be an organisation specialising in working with older people but you do need to be already providing services for older people.
