TSL News: Black Lives Matter Leeds Update

In support of Black Lives Matter, Leeds City Council is launching a review of historical statues in Leeds.

In support of Black Lives Matter and the emerging national debate about historical statues, Leeds City Council has appointed Alison Lowe to lead a review of historical statues in Leeds. Alison Lowe is the chief executive of Leeds-based mental health charity Touchstone, and was the first female BAME city councillor and represented Labour from 1990 to 2019.

The Children and Families Department has provided schools with anti-racism educational resources and lesson plans to support schools in covering these topics with pupils. Individuals and families can also access these resources.
