Rainbow call companions is a service specifically for people aged 75+ who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or otherwise part of the LGBT+ community.
LGBT+ people are statistically more likely to live alone at a later age and are less likely to reach out for help, or to know where to go when they need someone to talk to.
Rainbow call companions will match an older person with a volunteer who is also LGBT+ and will ring them once a week. It has been described as “a chance to meet someone who speaks the same language as me”
